A little boy's room

Max is fascinated by books at the moment  I find them in the washing machine, in the garden, under the beds... everywhere. His absolute favourite is I want my hat back by John Klassen. We read it about 3 or 4 times a day.

A new-old necklace

A new yo-yo necklace, this time with a hand sewn cord, made with a mix of new and vintage fabrics. I love making yo-yos, I find hand sewing incredibly mediative. It also feels good to keep refining, so often I start projects and very rarely do I return to them and extend the idea.

Paul came to visit, all the way from New York. It'd been five years since we'd last seen each other. Crazy. So many good laughs!

My china cabinet

My Oma collected salt and pepper shakers, and egg cups too. There are three rooms of her house that were dedicated to her collection. The rule was that she would never pay more than two dollars. Very Dutch! But I've always loved them and have started my own small collection. These two white cats are the largest salt and pepper shakers I've ever found. Gorgeous but ridiculous.

We dropped in to see Merrin on her mother's farm in Waiuku, and met her old horse Shade. Merrin's already back in Amsterdam now, amidst the snow and the darkness. A different world that is so, so far away from this glorious hot summertime sunshine.

A bedroom

So many different eras of home furnishings in one house.

There is nothing nicer than a little nap on the couch.

On a hill by the sea

A little bach on a hill by the sea in the the middle of nowhere. We spent 4 nights there with  friends, watching the tide go in and out.

I walked out, and the nest
was already there by the step.  Woven basket
of a saint
sent back to life as a bird
who proceeded to make
a mess of things.

Doors and forests

A pair of forests and and a pair of doors from an old bach by the sea.

And we're back

We've been away for the last couple of weeks, collecting sand and shells and suntans. We had a fantastic time, no-one more so than Max, who had some pretty amazing adventures. But it's always good to come back home after a good holiday.
